Tiemonium Methylsulfate is the active ingredient in Visceralgine Tablet. Tiemonium Methylsulphate is an antispasmodic medication that relieves spasms in the intestine, biliary system, bladder, and uterus. It is used to treat pain caused by functional disorders of the digestive tract and biliary system. It is also used to treat spasms and pain in urological and gynecological diseases
Each 2 ml - ampoule contains:
Tiemonium methylsulfate 5 mg
Pharmacological Properties
Tiemonium: mixed antispasmodic: - Musculotropic. - Anticholinergic (1/50th of the effect of atropine at identical molar concentration).
Tiemonium Methylsulphate may have the risk of hypotension & tachycardia in certain individuals.

Tiemonium Methylsulphate-
It is indicated for the treatment of gastroenteritis, diarrhea, dysentery, biliary, colic, enterocolitis, cholecystitis, colonopathies, and mild cystitis. Visonium is the drug of choice for the treatment of spasmodic dysmenorrhoea.
Tiemonium Methylsulphate is a competitive antagonist of Acetylcholine, Histamine and strengthens calcium bonds with membrane phospholipids and proteins. Thus inhibits the intracellular contractile protein of visceral cells which causes inhibition of visceral spasms and pain.
Injection: 1 Tiemonium Methylsulphate Injection 3 times daily, through the Intravenous route slowly or Intramuscular route.
Tiemonium methylsulfate tablet should not be used with other drugs without the prior consultation of a registered physician to avoid possible drug interaction
It should not be used in urethroprostatic disorder involving a risk of urine retension. It is contraindicated in patients with the risk of angle closure glaucoma.
The results of animal studies of Tiemonium Methylsulphate did not reveal any teratogenic effects; no deformities have been reported up till now with normal use. In the absence of sufficient data, prudence should be the rule for nursing mothers although no problems have been reported with normal use.
IV Injection should be slow to reduce the risk of tachycardia. Use during Pregnancy and Breast Feeding: - The results of animal studies of tiemonium did not reveal any teratogenic effects. Although these results do not prejudge the effects in men, no deformities have been reported up till now with normal use. - In the absence of sufficient data, prudence should be the rule for nursing mothers although no problems have been reported with normal use.
